LAHORE, April 29 — Punjab Law Minister Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan met delegations from the Okara and Pakpattan district bar associations to discuss challenges faced by lawyers and plans to improve judicial infrastructure in the province.

The meeting focused on issues affecting the legal fraternity in both districts, including the need for better facilities and greater consultation in legislative matters. Representatives from the bar associations sought funding for the construction of bar chambers in Okara, upgrades to library facilities and additional resources for bar bodies.

Officials said the delegations also urged the government to consult the legal community before introducing amendments to laws, so that their concerns can be incorporated into policymaking.

Infrastructure and resource demands

During the meeting, participants highlighted gaps in infrastructure and support services for lawyers, particularly in district-level bar associations. The requests included improved workspace, access to updated legal materials and financial assistance for institutional development.

The law minister directed relevant authorities to prepare a comprehensive plan to address these concerns, according to officials present at the meeting.

Government response

Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan said the government would take phased measures to improve facilities, including provision of chambers, library upgrades and other essential amenities for lawyers.

He added that resolving issues faced by the legal community and strengthening judicial infrastructure remain priorities for the provincial government.

The meeting was attended by senior officials, including Deputy Secretary Law Aitizaz Marth and Barrister Javed Iqbal, along with representatives from the Okara and Pakpattan bar associations.
