PESHAWAR, May 12: Revenue officials in Peshawar were briefed on improving governance and public service delivery under the Right to Public Services Act 2014 during an official meeting held at the Deputy Commissioner Office on Tuesday.
The session focused on strengthening the implementation of the Right to Public Services (RTS) framework and improving accountability and efficiency in revenue-related public offices across the district.
The meeting was jointly conducted by District Monitoring Officer Tashfin Israr of the Right to Public Services Commission and Additional Assistant Commissioner (Headquarters) Anam Mehmood.
Officials including tehsildars, naib tehsildars, in-charge officers of Service Delivery Centres (SDCs), sub-registrars, and officials from the arms licence and domicile branches attended the session.
During the meeting, Tashfin Israr delivered a presentation on the RTS Act 2014, explaining its key provisions and the legal framework aimed at ensuring transparent, timely, and citizen-focused public service delivery.
The briefing also covered service delivery procedures, mandatory display requirements for notified public services under Section 9 of the Act, and the importance of maintaining monthly performance records.
Focus on transparency and accountability
Participants were informed about institutional responsibilities, service timelines, and administrative measures aimed at improving efficiency and accountability in public offices.
Officials emphasized that effective implementation of the RTS Act is important for strengthening governance, improving transparency, and facilitating citizens through better service delivery systems.
The meeting concluded with a commitment from participants to improve coordination among revenue departments and ensure the effective implementation of the RTS framework in District Peshawar.
