Peshawar, April 30, 2026: A two-day workshop on KP Assembly reporting concluded in Nathiagali, training parliamentary journalists to improve digital reporting skills and strengthen coverage of legislative proceedings.
The training, held at the Speaker’s House, brought together reporters covering the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly. Organisers said the initiative aims to improve accuracy, speed, and depth in parliamentary journalism at a time when digital reporting is reshaping news coverage.
Focus on digital tools and legislative processes
Senior journalist Lehaz Ali and Assistant Secretary KP Assembly Saifullah Khan led the sessions, with oversight from Press Gallery representatives Gulzar Muhammad and Rasool Dawar.
Participants were encouraged to adopt modern digital tools to enhance reporting efficiency and reach wider audiences. Trainers also stressed the importance of attending standing committee meetings to ensure comprehensive legislative coverage.
Training on rules and reporting standards
Saifullah Khan briefed journalists on the history, procedures, and Rules of Business of the KP Assembly, offering practical guidance on legislative reporting standards.
He said the workshop is part of an ongoing capacity-building effort, with more sessions planned to support new and working reporters.
Participation and recognition
Participants thanked Speaker KP Assembly Babar Saleem Swati and Secretary KP Assembly Syed Wiqar Shah for facilitating the training.
The workshop concluded with the distribution of shields among participants.
