ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal has reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to deepening ties with Tajikistan, highlighting opportunities for stronger cooperation in trade, regional connectivity, energy, tourism and people-to-people exchanges.
Speaking as chief guest at a reception hosted by the Embassy of Tajikistan to mark the 35th anniversary of the country’s Independence Day, Iqbal said Pakistan highly valued its relationship with Tajikistan and wanted to expand practical cooperation across multiple sectors.
He also conveyed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s greetings to the leadership and people of Tajikistan.
Focus on Trade, Energy and Connectivity
Ahsan Iqbal said Pakistan and Tajikistan shared close historical, cultural and regional links, providing a strong foundation for deeper bilateral engagement.
He said there was considerable potential to expand cooperation in trade, connectivity, energy, tourism and direct contacts between the peoples of the two countries.
Tajikistan’s Ambassador Yusuf Sharifzoda thanked the Pakistani guests and stressed the importance of sustained engagement and practical cooperation between the two countries.
The event was also attended by Prime Minister’s Coordinator on Tourism Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan, Senator Talah Mahmood, Al-Sadat Group Chairman Syed Sajjad Hussain Shah, diplomats and other guests.
A cake was cut during the reception to mark the anniversary.
