RAWALPINDI: The armies of Pakistan and Sri Lanka concluded the two-week joint counterterrorism exercise “Shake Hands-II” at Tarbela, Pakistan, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The exercise, which began on April 27, involved combat teams from the Special Services Group of the Pakistan Army and Sri Lankan Special Forces. Officials said the training focused on improving coordination, operational procedures and counterterrorism tactics through joint military exercises.
The closing ceremony was attended by the General Officer Commanding of the Special Services Group as chief guest. Ajith Abeyawardana also attended the ceremony representing Sri Lanka.
According to ISPR, participating troops demonstrated professional standards and operational readiness throughout the exercise.
The military exercise was aimed at refining drills, techniques and procedures related to counterterrorism operations while strengthening military cooperation and long-standing defense ties between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
Officials said joint exercises of this nature help enhance interoperability, professional exchange and collaboration between the armed forces of both countries.
