The Pakistan Hockey Federation has decided to send the national under-18 women’s hockey team for an international five-a-side event as part of its efforts to provide young players with international exposure.
According to the federation, the move is part of a wider development plan aimed at grooming emerging hockey talent and preparing players for future international challenges.
The decision comes after approval for the Pakistan under-18 boys’ team to participate in an international event in Oman. The women’s team will represent Pakistan in a five-a-side tournament after the conclusion of the National Hockey Championship.
The PHF also plans to send Pakistan’s under-21 junior hockey team to Oman in July for international competitions and exposure matches. The federation said the initiative is intended to help junior players gain competitive experience and prepare them for higher-level representation.
According to PHF officials, June and July are proving to be active months for Pakistan hockey, with the senior national team, junior team and under-18 squads all involved in international assignments.
A PHF spokesperson said participation in international tournaments would allow young players to test themselves against stronger opponents, learn modern playing techniques, improve tactical awareness and raise their fitness to international standards.
The federation said it remains committed to accelerating player development and taking practical steps to help Pakistan regain its standing in world hockey.
PHF officials said continued international exposure for young players is essential for rebuilding the sport and developing future national teams.
