Pakistan women’s cricket captain Fatima Sana delivered a standout all-round performance against South Africa in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, setting multiple records despite Pakistan’s two-wicket defeat.
Fatima scored an unbeaten 55 off 38 balls after Pakistan had collapsed to 50 for eight while batting first. Her innings helped Pakistan recover from a difficult position and gave the team a competitive total.
Her knock included six fours and two sixes. It was also her first half-century in a Women’s T20 World Cup match.
Fatima also shared a record partnership with Tuba Hassan, helping Pakistan rebuild after the early batting collapse.
With her innings, Fatima became the highest scorer in Women’s T20 World Cup history while batting at No. 8 or lower.
South Africa appeared to be moving comfortably toward the target, but Fatima brought Pakistan back into the contest with an impressive spell of bowling. She took three wickets for 16 runs and dismissed key South African batters at important stages of the chase.
Despite her effort, South Africa eventually reached the target and secured a two-wicket victory.
Fatima’s performance still marked a major individual achievement. She became the first captain to score a half-century and take three wickets in the same women’s T20 international match.
Her all-round display was one of the key highlights of the match and added another milestone to her growing record as Pakistan’s captain.
