Pakistan has secured a place in the final of the Asian Doubles Squash Championship after defeating hosts Malaysia in the semi-final, while the country’s second team finished fifth in the competition.
The tournament is taking place in Sarawak, Malaysia, where Pakistan Team One produced a straight-games victory over Malaysia to move into the title match. The result strengthens Pakistan’s position in the championship after finishing as runners-up in the previous edition.
In the semi-final, World Under-23 champion Noor Zaman and former national champion Nasir Iqbal led Pakistan to a 2-0 win. The pair controlled the match from the start, taking the opening game 11-8 and the second 11-5 in a contest lasting around 25 minutes.
Strong performance from Pakistan Team Two
Pakistan Team Two also delivered a decisive result in the classification round, defeating Singapore 2-0 in just 13 minutes to secure fifth place overall. The team included former world junior champion Muhammad Hamza Khan and international player Muhammad Asim Khan.
According to the Pakistan Squash Federation, team operations were overseen by honorary secretary Air Commodore (Retd) Aamir Nawaz, while former international player Faheem Gul served as coach.
The results add to Pakistan’s ongoing presence in international squash competitions, with both squads finishing inside the top five of the tournament.
