A promising fast-bowling prospect from Jhang has attracted the attention of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) after reportedly bowling at close to 150 km/h. Qayyum Khan impressed while representing the Sports Board Punjab in a Grade-II tournament, highlighting his pace and potential as an emerging cricketer.
The 150 km/h fast bowler Qayyum Khan has now been called to Lahore’s National Cricket Academy (NCA) for specialized training as part of efforts to further develop his bowling abilities.
Qayyum’s rise has also included appearances in the Prime Minister’s Talent Hunt Programme, which aims to identify and develop promising athletes from across Pakistan.
Qayyum Khan’s Rise From Jhang
The young pacer, who hails from Jhang, recently came into focus through his performances in domestic-level cricket. His ability to generate significant pace has helped distinguish him among emerging fast-bowling prospects.
According to the report, Qayyum represented the Sports Board Punjab in the Grade-II tournament, where his bowling performances drew attention.
His development reflects the role of grassroots and talent-identification programmes in providing opportunities to young cricketers from outside Pakistan’s established cricket centres.
Called Up to National Cricket Academy
The PCB has invited Qayyum to Lahore’s National Cricket Academy for specialized training. The opportunity will allow the young fast bowler to work in a structured high-performance environment and continue developing his skills.
Qayyum’s progress will now be closely followed as he works to translate his raw pace into consistent performances at higher levels of competitive cricket.
