Pakistan, Bahrain discuss defence cooperation and emerging military technologies

ISLAMABAD: Commander Bahrain National Guard General Shaikh Mohammed Bin Isa Bin Salman Al Khalifa met Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu during a visit to Air Headquarters in Islamabad, where both sides discussed defence cooperation, regional security and emerging military technologies.

According to the Pakistan Air Force (PAF), the meeting focused on strengthening bilateral defence ties and expanding professional collaboration between the armed forces of Pakistan and Bahrain.

During the discussions, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu briefed the visiting dignitary on the Pakistan Air Force’s modernization programme, including capability enhancement, infrastructure development, indigenization and reforms in training systems designed to meet the requirements of modern warfare.

Focus on drones and emerging technologies

The two sides exchanged views on the growing role of drone warfare and the increasing importance of unmanned systems in contemporary military operations.

Discussions also covered emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, advanced sensors and digital innovation, and their impact on future defence capabilities.

According to the PAF, both leaders discussed evolving security challenges and the need for modern defence strategies to address emerging threats.

Air defence and aerospace collaboration

The meeting also focused on developments in the air defence domain and the importance of integrated defence architectures in responding to increasingly complex aerial threats.

The Bahraini commander was briefed on Pakistan Air Force initiatives aimed at strengthening indigenous capabilities and technological development.

General Shaikh Mohammed Bin Isa Bin Salman Al Khalifa also expressed interest in Pakistan Air Force expertise in advanced technologies, aerospace development and specialized training programmes.

Commitment to stronger defence ties

According to the PAF, the Bahraini commander appreciated the professionalism, operational readiness and modernization efforts of the Pakistan Air Force.

He also praised the development of indigenous defence capabilities and expressed interest in expanding Air Force-to-Air Force cooperation between the two countries.

The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of Pakistan and Bahrain to strengthening defence relations and promoting regional peace and security through enhanced military cooperation.
