Bahrain National Guard chief holds defence talks with Pakistan’s military leadership

RAWALPINDI, June 9: H.H. General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Isa Bin Salman Al Khalifa, Commander of the Bahrain National Guard, met Pakistan’s top military leadership during a visit to Rawalpindi, where both sides discussed regional security, defence cooperation and ways to strengthen bilateral military ties.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Bahraini commander called on Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Staff, at General Headquarters (GHQ).

During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on matters of mutual interest, the regional security environment and opportunities to enhance defence and security cooperation. Both leaders expressed satisfaction over the longstanding relations between Pakistan and Bahrain and emphasized the importance of expanding military-to-military collaboration.

Meetings with naval and air force chiefs

During his visit, the Commander of the Bahrain National Guard also separately met Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf and Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu.

At Naval Headquarters, discussions focused on bilateral defence collaboration and regional maritime security. The Bahraini commander appreciated the Pakistan Navy’s role in promoting cooperative maritime security and described it as a stabilizing force in the region.

Focus on emerging defence technologies

At Air Headquarters, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu briefed the visiting dignitary on the Pakistan Air Force’s modernization initiatives, including capability enhancement, infrastructure development, indigenization efforts and advanced training reforms.

The discussions also covered emerging defence technologies such as drones, artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, advanced sensors and digital innovation. Both sides exchanged views on evolving air defence challenges and integrated defence architectures.

Commitment to deeper cooperation

According to ISPR, the Bahraini commander praised the professionalism, operational readiness and contributions of Pakistan’s armed forces to regional peace and stability.

He also expressed interest in expanding cooperation in training, emerging technologies and capacity-building initiatives.

The visit reflects the continuing defence partnership between Pakistan and Bahrain and is expected to contribute to further cooperation between the armed forces of the two countries.
