Pakistan Armed Forces commemorate 28th anniversary of Youm-e-Takbeer

RAWALPINDI, May 28: Pakistan’s Armed Forces on Wednesday marked the 28th anniversary of Youm-e-Takbeer, commemorating the country’s nuclear tests conducted on May 28, 1998, and reaffirming their commitment to national security and defence.

In a message issued on the occasion, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf, and Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu extended greetings to the people of Pakistan on behalf of the armed forces.

The military leadership said Youm-e-Takbeer commemorates the day Pakistan became a nuclear power, describing it as a milestone that strengthened the country’s strategic deterrence and security posture in South Asia.

According to the statement, the achievement reflected the contributions of national leadership, scientists, engineers, members of the armed forces and the people of Pakistan. The military leadership said the development remains a key part of the country’s efforts to safeguard its sovereignty, territorial integrity and national interests.

Reaffirmation of defence commitment

The armed forces reiterated their resolve to defend Pakistan against all threats and to continue working for the country’s security, stability and prosperity.

The statement also called for unity, vigilance and resilience, urging the nation to renew its commitment to building a stronger and more prosperous Pakistan.

The military leadership said the occasion serves as a reminder of Pakistan’s collective achievements and the importance of national cohesion in addressing future challenges.
