Lahore: A Pakistan Air Force (PAF) contingent assumed guard duties at the Mazar-e-Iqbal as part of Pakistan Day commemorations held across the country. The change of guard ceremony, along with a wreath-laying event, marked the national observance and paid tribute to poet-philosopher Allama Muhammad Iqbal.

The ceremony took place at the mausoleum in Lahore, where Air Vice Marshal Muhammad Shahid Afzaal, Air Officer Commanding PAF Airmen Academy Korangi Creek, attended as chief guest. He laid a floral wreath and offered Fateha at the grave on behalf of the Chief of the Air Staff, as well as PAF officers, airmen, and civilian personnel.

Earlier in the day, Pakistan Day began at PAF bases and installations with special prayers after Fajr, held for the country’s unity, progress, and prosperity, along with well-being across the Muslim world.

Officials said the ceremony represents respect for Allama Iqbal’s contributions and his role in shaping the ideological foundation of Pakistan. His philosophical vision continues to be referenced in national discourse and commemorative events.

The observance concluded with prayers and a reaffirmation of commitment to the country’s progress and unity.
