The British Council, in partnership with the Scottish Government, has opened applications for the Scotland Pakistan Scholarships for Young Women and Girls 2026-27, offering financial support to eligible Pakistani female students pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate studies.
The Scotland Pakistan Scholarship 2026-27 covers tuition fees and, where required, university hostel costs. Eligible students living in on-campus accommodation may also receive travel support for journeys between their home and university twice a year. The deadline for applications has been extended to September 15, 2026.
Who Can Apply?
The scholarship is available to Pakistani women enrolled in or seeking admission to bachelor’s and master’s degree programmes at universities recognised by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan.
Applicants must be Pakistani citizens residing in Pakistan and must have a confirmed offer of admission to an eligible degree programme at an HEC-recognised university.
The programme covers a range of fields, including education, agriculture and food security, sustainable energy, health sciences, climate change and STEM engineering. Both bachelor’s and master’s applicants can apply for eligible STEM programmes.
Financial Support and Research Funding
Selected students will have their tuition fees covered under the scholarship. University hostel expenses may also be provided for students who require accommodation.
Students living in on-campus hostels will be eligible for financial assistance for travel between their home and university twice during the academic year.
Master’s students may additionally receive research funding to support access to laboratories, equipment and other facilities required for their academic research.
Postgraduate applicants can receive support for two-year master’s or MPhil programmes, while undergraduate students can apply for scholarships covering eligible four-year bachelor’s degree programmes.
Special Encouragement for Minority and Disabled Students
The British Council has particularly encouraged applications from women belonging to minority communities and women with disabilities.
The scholarship programme was launched in 2013 to improve access to higher education for women from financially disadvantaged backgrounds. According to the British Council, more than 25,000 women and girls across Pakistan have received educational support through the initiative over the past decade.

Applications for the Scotland Pakistan Scholarships for Young Women and Girls 2026-27 can be submitted online until September 15, 2026.
