TANK: The district food department has assured consumers that government-supplied flour will remain available in Tank at the officially fixed price of Rs2,520 per 20kg bag, warning dealers of legal action over overcharging or other violations.
District Food Controller Fakhar Khan Mahsud said Tank has been allocated a daily quota of 22 tonnes of government flour, equivalent to 770 bags of 20kg each.
The flour is being distributed through 69 registered dealers verified by the deputy commissioner in an effort to ensure fair and transparent supply across the district.
Mahsud said three flour mills are currently operating in Tank, while the supply and distribution of subsidised flour are being monitored on a regular basis.
He warned that dealers found charging above the official price or involved in other irregularities could have their flour quota cancelled and face legal proceedings.
Food Inspector Mohammad Waqas also inspected several flour dealers’ outlets to check stocks, distribution records and compliance with the officially notified price.
Dealers were directed to follow the prescribed standard operating procedures and ensure that government flour is sold strictly at Rs2,520 per 20kg bag.
The inspections were carried out under directives from senior provincial and district food authorities as part of efforts to prevent overcharging and maintain uninterrupted flour availability for consumers in Tank.
