District Education Officer (Male) Zahid Muhammad said the department’s initiatives focus on merit-based recruitment, teacher development, improved school infrastructure, and stronger academic oversight. He said the reforms are already showing positive results in government schools.
Teacher Recruitment Progresses
According to Zahid Muhammad, the recruitment of Primary School Teachers (PSTs) is progressing steadily.
He said 179 teachers have already been appointed, while the recruitment process for the remaining 246 vacant positions is expected to be completed soon.
The DEO said all appointments are being made in accordance with transparency, merit, and legal requirements to ensure qualified educators join the public education system.
Special Recruitment Quotas Included
The education department has also reserved recruitment quotas for minorities, persons with disabilities, and the transgender community, in line with government policy.
Zahid Muhammad said appointments under these special quotas will be completed in the coming months, reflecting the department’s commitment to equal opportunity and inclusive public service.
Focus on Teacher Training and School Improvement
The DEO said merit-based recruitment has contributed to improvements in classroom teaching, student attendance, and overall academic performance in government schools.
He added that the department is investing in teachers’ professional development through training programs, digital learning initiatives, modern teaching methods, academic monitoring, and upgrades to school infrastructure.
The department is also working to strengthen school discipline, regularly assess educational standards, encourage parent-teacher collaboration, and increase community participation in education.
Commitment to Long-Term Education Reform
Zahid Muhammad reaffirmed the department’s commitment to implementing education reforms in line with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s education policy.
He expressed hope that continued cooperation among parents, teachers, students, elected representatives, and civil society would help improve literacy and provide quality education for children across Mardan.
