ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has accelerated tree plantation, landscaping and horticultural work across Islamabad, with new trees, flowering plants and shrubs being planted along major roads, green belts, parks, medians and public spaces.
The CDA Environment Wing is carrying out plantation activities at various identified locations as part of efforts to expand the capital’s green cover and improve its urban environment.
Field teams are planting trees and other suitable plant species at road medians, intersections, parks, green belts and prominent public spaces. The authority said preference is being given to climate-compatible and locally suitable species for Islamabad’s environment.
The ongoing drive also includes replacing dead and damaged trees and plants, improving existing green areas and landscaping vacant or underdeveloped spaces.
CDA officials said newly planted trees and plants are being regularly watered and maintained to improve their survival and healthy growth.
Alongside plantation, the Environment Wing is continuing routine horticultural work across the capital, including pruning, grass cutting, watering and landscaping of existing green spaces.
The authority said the plantation campaign is part of its wider efforts to protect and expand Islamabad’s green areas, which include tree-lined avenues, parks, green belts and other natural landscapes.
CDA has also called for greater public participation in the campaign, urging citizens, educational institutions, businesses and other organisations to contribute to increasing the city’s green cover and protecting existing trees.
The authority said the plantation and landscaping activities are being monitored by relevant officers to ensure proper implementation and continued care of newly planted trees and plants.
The CDA Environment Wing said the plantation drive would continue across Islamabad, with sustained attention to the expansion, protection and maintenance of the capital’s green spaces.
