Pakistani social media influencer Kanwal Aftab has criticised local clothing brands for the growing trend of designing outfits with shorter cuts and revealing styles, saying they should also consider customers who prefer modest and fully covered clothing.
In a video shared on social media, Aftab said shoppers who prefer traditional and modest outfits often struggle to find designs that meet their preferences.
She explained that when she asks clothing brands to make adjustments, such as lengthening sleeves or ensuring the back of an outfit is fully covered, she is often told that changes to the designs are not possible.
The influencer said she had explored hundreds of brands but still found it difficult to find clothes that matched her requirements.
Aftab urged Pakistani fashion brands to recognise that customers have different preferences and clothing needs. She also called for greater availability of traditional Pakistani designs alongside contemporary fashion collections.
Her comments have received support from several social media users, with many agreeing that clothing brands should offer more choices for customers who prefer modest attire.
