ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Saturday to discuss the latest regional developments, with a focus on uninterrupted energy supplies and the safe passage of ships.
According to Pakistan’s Foreign Office, Dar stressed the importance of maintaining uninterrupted energy supplies and ensuring the safe and expeditious movement of vessels, particularly because disruptions could affect developing countries and global supply chains.
Dar also underscored the importance of dialogue and diplomacy as the means of promoting peace and stability in the region. The two sides agreed to maintain close coordination and cooperation and to meet in New York on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Dar, Malaysian Foreign Minister discuss economic ties
Separately, Dar held a telephone conversation with Malaysian Foreign Minister Mohamad Hasan, during which the two discussed bilateral relations, trade and economic cooperation.
According to Radio Pakistan, the two sides agreed on the importance of sustained high-level engagement to further strengthen relations between Pakistan and Malaysia. They also agreed to meet in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session.
The conversations come as Pakistan continues diplomatic engagement with regional partners over developments affecting peace, maritime navigation and global energy supplies. Pakistan’s Foreign Office has repeatedly emphasised dialogue and diplomacy in addressing regional tensions.
