ISLAMABAD, June 19, 2026: The Islamabad Chamber of Small Traders & Small Industries (ICSTSI) marked the National Day of the Republic of the Philippines with a formal ceremony held at Jahangir Akhtar Hall in Islamabad, bringing together diplomats and business leaders to discuss expanded economic cooperation between the two countries.
The event, attended by the Philippine Ambassador to Pakistan Emmanuel R. Fernandez as chief guest, focused on strengthening bilateral relations with an emphasis on trade, investment, entrepreneurship, and business-to-business engagement. Officials and business representatives said deeper commercial linkages could help create new opportunities for small traders and industries in both countries.
Focus on trade and investment cooperation
During discussions, participants highlighted the potential for increased economic collaboration between Pakistan and the Philippines, particularly in supporting small and medium-sized enterprises. The dialogue underscored the importance of expanding private-sector partnerships to improve market access and investment flows.
Chamber’s role in international engagement
ICSTSI President Muhammad Awais Satti welcomed the ambassador and reiterated the chamber’s commitment to promoting international business relations. He said the chamber aims to facilitate stronger engagement between Pakistani and Filipino business communities.
The ambassador appreciated the hospitality extended by ICSTSI and expressed interest in further enhancing cooperation between both countries’ business sectors.
Business community participation
The event was attended by senior members of the Chamber and the business community, including Sheikh Tayyab Saeed (Senior Vice President), senior photojournalist Wahab Saleem Chughtai, Sardar Zaheer Ahmed (Vice President), Altaf Gohar (Executive Member), Hassan Gulzari (Executive Member), Malik Nadeem (Former President),Rashid Humayun, Aqeel Abbasi (Former Vice President),Sajid Iqbal (Council Member), and other prominent members of the business community.
Officials concluded that continued engagement between business communities could help open new avenues for trade and investment between Pakistan and the Philippines.
