Police in Lahore arrested a groom from his wedding ceremony over allegations of collecting money from students by promising them jobs through the Police Volunteer Programme.
According to the spokesperson for the DIG Operations, the suspect, identified as Farhan, allegedly deceived students by offering them employment opportunities in exchange for money.
After receiving complaints from affected students, DIG Operations Faisal Kamran ordered a confidential inquiry. The allegations were reportedly substantiated during the investigation, following which a case was registered.
Police from Nishter Colony Police Station subsequently arrested the suspect.
DIG Operations Faisal Kamran clarified that the Police Volunteer Programme provides students with an opportunity to volunteer with the police. He warned students against paying anyone for enrolment in the programme or for promised jobs.
He urged students to remain vigilant against individuals demanding money in the name of employment or programme registration and to report any suspected fraud to the police immediately.
