KARACHI, September 18, 2026: A high-level German delegation met with Dr. Sham Sunder Advani, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Sindh for Minorities Affairs and Chairman of the Sindh Evacuee Trust Property Board, at his office in Karachi on Thursday.
The meeting focused on minority affairs, community welfare and rights, protection of places of worship, security, interfaith harmony, and opportunities for cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
The German delegation included Rachel, Federal Commissioner for Religion and Beliefs at the Federal Office in Berlin; Dirksen, Assistant to the Federal Commissioner; Violetta Anand, Consul at the German Embassy in Islamabad; Markus Forster, Consul and Deputy Head of Mission at the German Consulate in Karachi; and Dagmar Traub-Evans, Consul for Culture at the Karachi consulate.
Dr. Advani welcomed the delegation with the traditional Sindhi greeting, “Bhale Kare Aya”.
During the discussions, Dr. Advani briefed the delegation on initiatives by the Sindh government for the welfare and protection of minority communities, including the repair, renovation, security and maintenance of places of worship.
He reaffirmed the provincial government’s stated commitment to equal citizenship, religious freedom, interfaith harmony and protection of the rights of all communities.
The meeting also covered opportunities for minority youth in education, skills development and professional growth.
The German delegation appreciated the initiatives discussed during the meeting and emphasized the importance of continued dialogue and cooperation on minority welfare and interfaith harmony.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to maintain continued engagement. As a gesture of Sindhi hospitality, Dr. Advani presented traditional Sindhi Ajraks to members of the German delegation.V
