ISLAMABAD, September 15: An 18-member delegation comprising vice chancellors and rectors from leading Turkish universities visited the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) to explore stronger academic and research cooperation between Pakistan and Türkiye.
The delegation also included senior officials from the Council of Higher Education of Türkiye (CoHE), while Turkish Ambassador to Pakistan Irfan Neziroğlu attended the visit.
Welcoming the delegation, Rector NUST Dr Muhammad Zahid Latif highlighted the importance of strengthening institutional linkages between Pakistan and Türkiye and developing partnerships in areas of mutual interest.
Discussions focused on expanding academic and research linkages, increasing faculty and student mobility, and exploring opportunities for joint initiatives between NUST and Turkish higher education institutions.
The two sides also exchanged views on ways to develop deeper and more enduring institutional partnerships between NUST and leading universities in Türkiye.
Turkish Delegation Visits NUST Research Facilities
As part of the visit, the delegation toured NUST’s H-12 campus in Islamabad and visited several of the university’s research, innovation and academic facilities.
The delegation visited the National Science & Technology Park (NSTP), School of Interdisciplinary Engineering & Sciences (SINES), Center for Emerging Technologies (CEMTECH) and NUST’s all-inclusive sports complex.
The visit provided a platform for continued dialogue between NUST and Turkish higher education institutions, with a focus on developing long-term academic and research partnerships.
NUST said the engagement reflected its existing ties with Turkish higher education institutions and efforts to expand institutional cooperation between Pakistan and Türkiye.
