SHANGLA, October 25, 2026: Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan and SAFRON Engineer Amir Muqam has pledged accountability for alleged corruption during the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government’s tenure in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, declaring that every penny allegedly misappropriated from public funds would be accounted for.
Addressing a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) rally in Bisham, Shangla, on Sunday, Muqam claimed that PTI had lost public confidence after years in power and that the province’s people wanted development rather than political confrontation.
The gathering, organised by PML-N as a “Day of Gratitude,” was held to mark what the party described as the end of PTI’s 14-year rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Thousands of party workers and residents attended the rally, chanting slogans in support of PML-N leaders, including Nawaz Sharif, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
### Muqam rejects politics of revenge
Muqam said his party did not believe in political victimisation but would pursue accountability for the alleged misuse of public resources.
“We do not believe in the politics of revenge, but every penny taken from the people and the state will be accounted for,” he said.
He accused the former PTI administration of failing to deliver meaningful improvements in public welfare and development despite its prolonged tenure.
The federal minister claimed that public dissatisfaction with PTI had become increasingly visible and that the party’s political influence was weakening.
He also criticised overseas social media commentators and YouTubers, accusing them of promoting misleading political narratives.
Muqam challenged them to visit Shangla and witness the public gathering rather than relying on social media campaigns.
### PML-N promises development in KP
Thanking supporters for attending despite the short notice, Muqam said the turnout reflected growing public support for his party.
He referred to previous PML-N gatherings in Buner and Swat, claiming they demonstrated dissatisfaction with the former provincial government.
The federal minister said efforts were underway to improve public services and governance across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, expressing confidence that residents would soon see positive changes.
He maintained that PML-N would continue advocating for development, prosperity and public welfare at every political and administrative forum.
### Muqam praises armed forces
During his address, Muqam also praised the Pakistan Army for its sacrifices in safeguarding national security.
He commended Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir’s leadership and said the armed forces had played a vital role in strengthening national pride and stability.
Participants at the rally raised slogans supporting the armed forces and expressing solidarity with national security institutions.
Among those attending were KP Assembly member Muhammad Rashad Khan, PML-N Shangla district president Intikhab Alam Khan, district general secretary Bakht Alam Khan, former local government representatives Muhammad Ali and Muhammad Tahir, former provincial assembly member Qaimoos Khan, and other party leaders.
The Bisham gathering formed part of PML-N’s wider political mobilisation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with party leaders seeking to consolidate support and promote their development agenda.
