PESHAWAR: A delegation of senior journalists from Dera Ismail Khan visited China Window, a Chinese cultural and information centre in Peshawar, to learn about its initiatives promoting Pakistan-China relations, cultural exchange and people-to-people connectivity.
The delegation included Saeedullah Marwat, Iqbal Bhatti, Irfan Mughal, Shaikh Tauqeer Akram and Abu Shan.
China Window representative Adnan Khan welcomed the journalists and briefed them about the centre’s activities aimed at promoting awareness of Chinese culture, history, development achievements and cooperation between Pakistan and China.
During the visit, the delegation toured different galleries of the cultural centre and showed interest in displays highlighting China’s history, technological progress and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
The journalists appreciated the efforts of China Window, describing it as an important platform for strengthening cultural understanding and friendship between the two countries.
Journalists Highlight DI Khan’s Economic Potential
Speaking on the occasion, members of the delegation said Dera Ismail Khan holds significant economic and strategic importance due to its proximity to the Daraban Special Economic Zone.
They said improved security conditions would help the region play a greater role in the implementation of CPEC-related projects and attract investment opportunities.
The journalists noted that development of the Daraban Special Economic Zone could contribute to employment generation, economic activity and growth in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s southern districts.
They stressed the need for peace, better infrastructure and increased investment to help the region benefit from emerging economic opportunities linked with CPEC.
The delegation said stronger connectivity and development initiatives could help unlock the economic potential of areas that have remained underdeveloped despite their strategic importance.
