ISLAMABAD: A decision on PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi’s India visit is expected this week as Pakistan considers an ICC invitation for him to attend a board meeting in Ahmedabad and watch the IPL final, sources said.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi Invited to ICC Meeting and IPL 2026 Final in India

Naqvi’s possible travel to India requires approval from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who is the patron-in-chief of the Pakistan Cricket Board. The matter is expected to be discussed in Islamabad after Naqvi returns from Iran, according to sources.

The International Cricket Council has invited Naqvi to attend its board meeting scheduled for May 30 and 31 in Ahmedabad. The IPL final is also scheduled to be played in the city on May 31.

Naqvi received the invitation last week, but his participation in both events remains subject to the prime minister’s approval.

ICC meetings to discuss World Test Championship format

The ICC meetings are scheduled to take place in two phases later this month. The Chief Executives’ Committee meeting will be held virtually on May 21, while the ICC board meeting will be held in Ahmedabad on May 30 and 31.

The board meeting is expected to include discussions on proposed changes to the ICC World Test Championship format. Under the current structure, each Test series must include at least two matches.

The ICC board is also expected to discuss the possible inclusion of Zimbabwe, Ireland and Afghanistan in the World Test Championship cycle, a move that would broaden participation in the tournament structure.
