Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has received invitations to attend the International Cricket Council Board meeting and the IPL 2026 final in Ahmedabad later this month, according to sources familiar with the matter.

The decision on whether Naqvi will travel to India is expected to be made by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, sources said. The development comes amid ongoing political tensions between Pakistan and India, which have also affected cricketing ties between the two countries.

According to reports, the ICC will hold a series of meetings to continue discussions on the future structure of the World Test Championship. The ICC Chief Executives Committee meeting is scheduled to take place virtually on May 21, while the in-person Board meeting is planned for May 30 and 31 in Ahmedabad.

The IPL 2026 final is also scheduled to be played in Ahmedabad on May 31 at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

Sources said the PCB chairman has forwarded the invitations to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for approval regarding his possible participation in both events.

An international cricket news website reported that Naqvi would normally be expected to attend the ICC Board meeting in person, but diplomatic tensions and strained cricket relations between the two countries could affect the final decision.

The ICC meetings were originally planned for March and April in Doha, Qatar, but were postponed due to regional developments and scheduling issues.
