A former Al Nassr player has said that Cristiano Ronaldo fasted for two days during Ramadan to understand what Muslims experience during the holy month.

Shaye Sharahili shared the detail during an interview on the Thmanyah platform, discussing how fasting affects footballers competing in Saudi Arabia.

Adjusting to Ramadan

Sharahili said Arab players generally adapt easily to fasting during Ramadan, as they observe it every year and are familiar with the changes in routine. Training schedules and match preparations are often adjusted accordingly.

He noted that foreign players may initially face challenges due to differences in eating patterns and daily schedules, especially if it is their first Ramadan in the region.

Ronaldo’s brief experience

According to Sharahili, Ronaldo chose to fast for two days during the previous Ramadan while playing for Al Nassr. He said the Portuguese forward wanted to experience what fasting feels like during the holy month.

No further details were shared about how the brief fasting period affected Ronaldo’s performance or training routine.

Ramadan is observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting from dawn to sunset, alongside prayer and reflection.
