ABBOTTABAD: COMSATS University Islamabad has become Pakistan’s first fully digitalized university after shifting key administrative, academic and office processes to an online governance system, according to university officials.
The digital transformation was carried out during the first six months under Rector Prof Dr Raheel Qamar and is aimed at improving transparency, efficiency, resource management and paperless administration across the university.
According to the university, major forums and processes, including Senate, Syndicate and Academic Council meetings, student theses, selection boards and office file movement, have been moved to the online system.
Paperless governance introduced
University officials said the shift has reduced traditional paperwork by thousands of pages and helped promote green governance, faster decision-making and improved administrative transparency.
The Annual Confidential Reports of employees have also been fully digitized as part of the administrative reforms.
COMSATS said the university also completed the appointment of directors for all seven campuses for four-year terms, along with the appointment of a permanent registrar and controller of examinations.
Promotions and administrative reforms
Under the new reforms, 706 employees who had been waiting for promotions for years were promoted to the next grades, according to the university.
Media Coordinator COMSATS University Abbottabad Sardar Naseer said the administration had also implemented the Government of Pakistan’s austerity measures and official directives in letter and spirit.
He said the reforms had strengthened financial and administrative discipline, institutional security and office procedures at the university.
COMSATS University said the digital governance model was designed to align the institution’s administrative and academic affairs with modern global requirements.
