RIYADH: The Embassy of Pakistan in Saudi Arabia has advised Pakistani citizens living in the Kingdom to refrain from political activities, demonstrations and the promotion of political views, citing Saudi laws governing such activities.
In a message posted on social media platform X, the embassy urged Pakistani nationals to avoid political gatherings, protests, political party activities and the promotion of political ideologies while in Saudi Arabia.
The embassy also advised citizens to use social media responsibly and comply with local laws. It urged them not to spread unverified information or rumours and to avoid provocative content, political or sectarian arguments and material that could cause tension.
Advice on Social Media Use
The embassy further advised Pakistani citizens to avoid content that criticises Saudi government policies or promotes provocation, and to refrain from presenting the region’s political and security situation in a sensational manner.
The advisory comes amid continued official emphasis on the need for Pakistani nationals abroad to respect the laws of their host countries. Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has previously stated that Pakistani embassies and consulates facilitate citizens in distress while urging nationals to comply with local laws.
According to the embassy’s advisory, violations of Saudi laws may result in legal consequences, which can include arrest, fines, imprisonment, deportation and restrictions on future entry into the Kingdom.
The embassy urged Pakistani citizens to exercise caution in their public and online activities and remain mindful of Saudi Arabia’s applicable laws and regulations.
