PESHAWAR: China Window, a Chinese cultural center based in Peshawar, will launch a special Pashto song on May 20 to mark the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and the People’s Republic of China.

The Pak-China friendship song, produced in collaboration with artists and cultural figures from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, aims to highlight the longstanding cultural and diplomatic ties between the two countries. The formal launch ceremony is scheduled to take place in Islamabad, with participation expected from representatives of the Chinese Embassy and prominent personalities from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the federal capital.

The song was written by noted Pashto poet Professor Dr. Abaseen Yousafzai, while senior journalist and China Window Administrator Amjad Aziz Malik directed the project.

Music for the song was composed by renowned musician Gohar Jan. Vocals were performed by internationally recognized singers Dr. Irfan Khalil and Yamsa Noor, both from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Video filmed at historic Gandhara site

According to organizers, the music video was filmed at Takht-i-Bahi, the historic Buddhist monastic complex in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa associated with the ancient Gandhara civilization. The site holds historical significance in the context of regional cultural links, including connections with China.

Additional scenes were shot inside a 142-year-old traditional house in Peshawar, reflecting the cultural heritage of the region and symbolizing the continuity of Pakistan-China relations over the past seven decades.

Song highlights cultural connection

The lyrics present a poetic exchange between two characters representing Pakistan and China. In the song, a young woman compares a Pakistani man to a prince, while the young man describes her as a fairy from China, expressing themes of friendship, admiration, and cultural harmony.

The launch event in Islamabad on May 20 is expected to feature diplomats, artists, journalists, and cultural representatives associated with Pakistan-China relations.
