Islamabad, October 14, 2026: Mega Motor Company (MMC), BYD’s official partner in Pakistan, has renewed its partnership with the BYD Karachi Marathon for a second consecutive year and announced a new initiative aimed at preparing women runners for the 2027 event.

Under the renewed partnership, MMC will launch She Runs, a corporate social responsibility initiative that will provide structured marathon training to 10 women from Karachi ahead of the BYD Karachi Marathon 2027, scheduled for January 3.

The programme will run for 10 weeks and will cover endurance training, nutrition, physiotherapy, safety and well-being, with the selected participants receiving professional support to prepare for the full marathon.

The BYD Karachi Marathon is Pakistan’s first World Athletics-Certified marathon and brings together local and international runners across multiple race categories.

Through its Vision 2032, the event also seeks to create a pathway for Pakistani athletes to qualify for major international marathons and, ultimately, the Olympic Games.

‘She Runs’ to Support Women Marathoners

Anum Abdullah, Senior General Manager for HR, Admin and CSR at Mega Motor Company, said the initiative was designed to make marathon running more accessible to women by providing structured guidance and support.

“At Mega Motor Company, we believe that empowering women begins with creating opportunities for them to realise their potential and pursue their ambitions,” she said.

“Through She Runs, we aim to make marathon running more accessible to women by providing 10 aspiring runners from Karachi with the structured training, guidance and support they need to prepare for and complete a full marathon.”

She added that the initiative was intended to help participants build confidence, test their limits and pursue goals they may not otherwise have considered within reach.

Marathon to Expand Participation in 2027

Karachi Marathon founder Shoaib Nizami said MMC’s continued partnership had supported efforts to establish running as a mainstream sport in Pakistan.

“This year, we aim to make the BYD Karachi Marathon bigger and more inclusive, welcoming participants of all ages and abilities while creating pathways for aspiring runners to pursue international competitions,” he said.

Nizami added that the 2027 edition would also introduce a category for differently abled participants.

He said initiatives such as She Runs could help more women prepare for the marathon through professional training and a safer, more supportive environment.

The BYD Karachi Marathon 2027 will feature full marathon, half marathon, relay and 5K categories, with runners from Pakistan and abroad expected to participate.

Registrations are now open for all categories.

MMC said its continued partnership with the marathon is aimed at supporting Pakistan’s growing running culture, encouraging greater inclusivity in sport and helping local athletes pursue competitive opportunities.
