Australia advanced to the final of the Women’s T20 World Cup after securing a convincing eight-wicket victory over West Indies in the semi-final at The Oval in London on Tuesday.

The result extends Australia’s unbeaten run in the tournament and moves them one step closer to a record-extending seventh Women’s T20 World Cup title. West Indies were eliminated after being restricted to a below-par total, while Australia comfortably chased the target with an unbeaten partnership in the middle order.

West Indies, after being sent in to bat, posted 125 for 7 in their 20 overs. Captain Hayley Matthews contributed 30 runs, but the innings lost momentum after a mid-innings collapse that saw them fall from a strong position to 83 for 6. Australia’s bowling attack maintained control throughout, limiting scoring opportunities in the final overs.

In response, Australia reached the target with ease, finishing the chase in 14.5 overs. Beth Mooney anchored the innings with an unbeaten 61, while Ashleigh Gardner added an unbeaten 35 to secure the win. Gardner also made an impact with the ball, taking two wickets earlier in the match and earning the player-of-the-match award.

Australia will now face the winner of the second semi-final between England and South Africa in the final at Lord’s on Sunday.
