The Alpine Club of Pakistan (ACP) has announced its second Women Khusar Gang expedition 2026, aimed at promoting mountaineering, adventure sports, and outdoor leadership among women in Pakistan.
The initiative is designed to provide female climbers with practical experience on high-altitude peaks and strengthen their role in Pakistan’s growing adventure sports sector. The programme also highlights efforts to encourage greater female participation in mountaineering at national and international levels.
According to ACP President Major General Irfan Arshad Khan, the expedition will see climbers attempt Khusar Gang peak (6,040 meters), located in the Shigar Valley of Gilgit-Baltistan within the Karakoram range.
The selection of participants was carried out through a transparent process by a committee of experienced female climbers led by renowned mountaineer Naila Kiani.
The selected team includes climbers from across Pakistan, including Gilgit-Baltistan, Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Islamabad, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The expedition is scheduled to depart from Skardu in the first week of July 2026.
Officials said the programme follows the success of the club’s earlier all-women expedition to Biafo La, which received national and international recognition for promoting gender inclusion in high-altitude adventure sports.
ACP also confirmed plans for the K2 Baltoro Clean-Up Campaign 2026 in September, aimed at environmental protection, waste removal from trekking routes, and raising awareness about responsible tourism in Pakistan’s northern mountain regions.
