LOWER DIR: Aleema Khan, sister of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder and former Primer Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan, on Sunday urged party workers to prepare for a nationwide movement seeking his release, saying supporters should remain mobilised until the party achieves its objective.
She made the remarks during a brief address to PTI workers in Lower Dir while travelling to Chitral. A large number of party leaders and supporters, including MNA Malik Bashir Khan and MPA Malik Shafiullah Khan, gathered at District Jail Chowk to welcome her.
Addressing the gathering, Aleema Khan said PTI workers should be prepared to leave their homes and move towards Adiala Jail as part of the proposed campaign. She called on supporters to remain peaceful, organised and committed to the party leadership’s instructions.
She said the PTI founder had not sought negotiations by pleading with the government and remained determined to maintain his political position despite his imprisonment.
Aleema Khan also claimed that the PTI founder had instructed Sohail Afridi on December 20 to begin preparations for a nationwide street movement aimed at mobilising citizens for their rights.
Referring to the wider situation in the country, she expressed concern over the judicial system and public confidence in the provision of justice. She also cited inflation, unrest and political uncertainty as major challenges affecting ordinary citizens.
She concluded by urging party workers to maintain unity and continue their campaign for the release of the PTI founder in accordance with decisions taken by the party leadership.
