ISLAMABAD, September 10, 2026 (APP): Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan travelled to Oslo to represent Pakistan at the state funeral of Norway’s King Harald V, according to a press release issued on Thursday.
The minister attended the official funeral ceremony and conveyed condolences and sympathies on behalf of President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the people of Pakistan to the Norwegian Royal Family and people of Norway.
On the occasion, Aleem Khan also met Norway’s new King, King Haakon VIII, and conveyed condolences and best wishes on behalf of Pakistan’s leadership and people.
During a condolence ceremony at Oslo City Hall, the federal minister held meetings with Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide, Finance Minister and former NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, Culture Minister Lubna Jaffery and Minister of International Development Åsmund Aukrust.
Aleem Khan expressed sympathy and solidarity with the Norwegian leadership and people during the period of mourning. The meetings also provided an opportunity to discuss Pakistan-Norway bilateral relations, mutual cooperation and matters of common interest.
The minister also met State Secretary Andreas Motzfeldt Kravik and Oslo Mayor Anne Lindboe. Discussions focused on bilateral relations and opportunities to further expand cooperation between Pakistan and Norway in various areas.
Speaking during the visit, Aleem Khan said Pakistan and Norway enjoy longstanding friendly relations based on mutual respect, trust and cooperation.
He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and expanding cooperation with Norway across areas of mutual interest.
The minister said Pakistan’s participation in the funeral of King Harald V reflected the country’s solidarity with and respect for the Norwegian Royal Family and people of Norway.
