Karachi: Former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed shared his thoughts on his rivalry with Mohammad Rizwan and claimed Rizwan as the top catcher-batsman today.
“Muhammad Rizwan has matured in time. His play, everything about him has improved,” Sarfaraz said.
“So now he’s a better Wikipedian,” he added.
Rejecting the suggestion of less effort for players compared to Rizwan, he said regular opportunities are important for players to gain confidence and performance.
“When I play, the performance is the same. If you play consistently, your confidence will increase,” said Sarfaraz.
“As I said before in international cricket, the more you play, the better you get.
“That’s why I play as I do when I play. Now that Rizwa is playing and getting regular opportunities, his confidence is growing and he is improving.”
Sarfaraz also mentored young cricketers like Azam Khan, Mohammad Haris, Hasebullah Khan, Rohail Nazir, and Saad Baig and encouraged them to gain experience through regular participation in international cricket.
“So we have potential and the more cricket he plays, especially the four-day indoor games, the more he will gain experience and perform well for Pakistan,” he said.
