LAHORE: Former Pakistan paceman Junaid Khan has drawn the ire of Indians after mocking Virat Kohli for scoring the slowest century in Indian Premier League (IPL) history.
The 35-year-old, who plays for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), scored a 72-ball 113* against Rajasthan Royals and reached the three-figure mark in the 67th ball of his innings.
Junaid took to X (formerly Twitter) and trolled Kohli and congratulated him on the undesirable feat, with Kohli taking a joint record 67 deliveries to approach his century, equaling former RCBian Manish Pandey’s record against the now defunct Deccan Chargers. back in 2009.
Junaid’s opinion did not go down well with Indians fans who were quick to react in the comments.
Meanwhile, Pakistani fans recalled Junaid’s record against Kohli in defence, where the Pakistan pacer dominated the latter in ODIs, dismissing him thrice.
Notably, Kohli has written his name in the history books after becoming the first player to complete 7,500 runs.
In his 242nd innings, he has now completed 7,500 runs in the IPL, the most by any batsman in the history of the tournament. Second on the list is another Indian Shikhar Dhawan who has 6755 runs in 221 matches.
