Islamabad, October 9, 2026: Forty Pakistani nationals who allegedly entered Greece illegally have been deported to Pakistan and returned to Islamabad on a special flight, according to officials.
The deportees belong mainly to Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala and Sialkot districts, while one individual is from Islamabad.
Officials said the individuals had entered Greece illegally via Libya and were subsequently held in different detention camps.
FIA to Investigate Deportees
Immigration officials at Islamabad International Airport reviewed the cases of the deportees individually upon their arrival.
According to officials, most of the individuals had initially travelled out of Pakistan legally by air but were later apprehended while attempting to enter Europe through unauthorised routes.
The deportees will be questioned by the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Anti-Human Trafficking Circles in their respective regions. Investigators will seek information to identify alleged facilitators and take legal action against those involved.
Authorities Warn Against Illegal Migration
Officials have advised citizens to obtain authentic travel documents and follow legal procedures when travelling abroad.
The FIA said immigration checks are being conducted strictly at airports across Pakistan. Pre-verification counters have also been established at Islamabad International Airport and other airports to help passengers verify their travel documents before departure.
