33,000+ Students to Compete for 5,100 Medical Seats in Sindh MDCAT 2026

More than 33,000 students will compete for 5,100 MBBS and BDS seats in Sindh MDCAT 2026, with the entrance test scheduled to take place across the province on Sunday, August 16. The exam will be conducted by the Sukkur IBA Testing Service, while the admission process will be managed by Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU).

According to officials, female candidates make up the majority of applicants, with over 20,900 women registered for the provincial medical college entrance test. The exam will determine admissions to public-sector medical and dental colleges across Sindh.

More Than 33,000 Candidates Registered

Sukkur IBA Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Asif Sheikh said more than 33,500 candidates have registered for the MDCAT examination across Sindh. The applicants include 20,934 female students and more than 12,600 male students.

In Karachi alone, 10,661 candidates will sit the exam, including 8,186 female and 2,475 male students.

5,100 Medical and Dental Seats Available

Jinnah Sindh Medical University Vice Chancellor Dr. Siraj Memon said 5,100 seats are available for admissions across Sindh this year.

The allocation includes:

  • 2,300 MBBS seats
  • 2,800 BDS seats

The total includes all reserved quota seats.

Test Centres Across Sindh

Candidates will appear at examination centres in several cities:

  • Karachi: 10,661 candidates
  • Hyderabad: 9,470 candidates
  • Sukkur: 5,462 candidates
  • Larkana: 3,066 candidates
  • Shaheed Benazirabad: 2,511 candidates
  • Mirpurkhas: 2,067 candidates
  • Islamabad Centre: 300 candidates

The Karachi test centre will be established at NED University, where a separate seating area will also be arranged for parents.

Exam Schedule and Passing Criteria

Students have been instructed to report to their examination centres by 6:30 a.m. The test will begin at 10:00 a.m. and will last three hours.

The multiple-choice examination will carry 180 marks.

The minimum qualifying scores are:

  • 55% for MBBS admissions
  • 50% for BDS admissions

Officials confirmed there will be no negative marking.

Results Expected by August 22

Prof. Dr. Asif Sheikh said the official answer key will be uploaded after the examination. To enhance transparency, candidates will receive a carbon copy of their answer sheet, allowing them to compare their responses once the answer key is released.

The MDCAT 2026 results are expected by August 22.
