ISLAMABAD: Tahir Yaqoob Bhatti met Maqbool Ahmad Gondal in Islamabad to discuss institutional reforms, financial performance and digital banking initiatives introduced by Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited.
During the meeting, Bhatti briefed the auditor general on the bank’s “Reforms and Transformation Strategy” launched in 2023, which he said helped address financial and administrative challenges faced by the institution.
According to ZTBL, the reforms contributed to improved financial performance and the creation of more than 900 employment opportunities for graduates and postgraduates across Pakistan.
Bhatti also highlighted the bank’s digital banking services aimed at improving access to financial services for small farmers. He said ZTBL’s field-based model allows branch managers and mobile credit officers to visit villages and remote areas to provide agricultural financing and banking services directly to farmers.
Auditor general stresses transparency and governance
Maqbool Ahmad Gondal appreciated the bank’s role in supporting small farmers and contributing to the rural economy, according to the statement.
The auditor general also stressed the importance of accountability, transparency and good governance in maintaining sustainable financial growth and assured cooperation from his office.
At the end of the meeting, the ZTBL president presented a commemorative shield to the auditor general, who also expressed interest in visiting the ZTBL head office in Islamabad.
