Islamabad: XPeng has recently launched its new mid-size SUV, the L03, in Pakistan. The model is available in two versions: BEV and REEV.
The REEV version has drawn more attention because it is XPeng’s first range-extended model and, in Pakistan, the added petrol backup makes it particularly relevant in a market where charging infrastructure is still limited.
Its closest rival is the Deepal S05 REEV Premium. Both are Chinese SUVs, both use range-extended electric powertrains, both send power to the rear wheels, and both fall into a similar price bracket.
Here is how they compare on paper.
Price in Pakistan
Price is one of the clearest differences between the two SUVs.
| Model | Price (Ex-factory) |
|---|---|
| XPeng L03 REEV Standard | Rs 11,500,000 |
| Deepal S05 REEV Premium | Rs 9,999,000 |
The XPeng costs Rs 1,501,000 more than the Deepal.
That makes the central question straightforward: does the L03 offer enough additional battery capacity, electric range, charging performance and equipment to justify the premium?
Quick Comparison
| Specification | XPeng L03 REEV | Deepal S05 REEV |
|---|---|---|
| Motor Power | 245 hp | 215 hp |
| Battery | 37.2 kWh | 27.28 kWh |
| EV Range | 240 km WLTP | 170 km NEDC |
| Combined Range | 1,100 km WLTP | 1,000+ km NEDC |
| 30–80% DC Charging | 10.5 minutes | 20 minutes |
| Ground Clearance | 165 mm | 169 mm |
The Deepal saves buyers Rs 1.5 million, while the XPeng responds with a larger battery, more power and significantly stronger DC charging figures.
Dimensions
The two SUVs are closely matched in overall size, though the L03 is slightly larger and has the longer wheelbase.
| Dimension | XPeng L03 REEV | Deepal S05 REEV |
|---|---|---|
| Length | 4,650 mm | 4,620 mm |
| Width | 1,920 mm | 1,900 mm |
| Height | 1,600 mm | 1,600 mm |
| Wheelbase | 2,950 mm | 2,880 mm |
| Ground Clearance | 165 mm | 169 mm |
| Boot Space | 539 litres | 492 litres |
The L03 is 30 mm longer and 20 mm wider, while both have the same height.
More importantly, the XPeng has a wheelbase that is 70 mm longer and offers an additional 47 litres of boot capacity.
The S05 has slightly more ground clearance, although the difference is only 4 mm.
Battery, EV Range and Combined Range
This is where the specification gap becomes most noticeable.
| Specification | XPeng L03 REEV | Deepal S05 REEV |
|---|---|---|
| Battery Capacity | 37.2 kWh | 27.28 kWh |
| EV-Only Range | 276 km NEDC | 170 km NEDC |
| Combined Range | 1,100 km WLTP | Over 1,000 km NEDC |
| Max AC Charging | 6.6 kW | 6.6 kW |
| Max DC Charging | 123 kW | 54.5 kW |
| 30–80% DC Charging | 10.5 minutes | 20 minutes |
| V2L | 6 kW | 6.6 kW |
The L03 carries a battery that is nearly 10 kWh larger than the unit in the S05.
It also supports a significantly higher maximum DC charging rate, at almost double the Deepal’s figure.
For EV-only range, the more useful like-for-like comparison is the L03’s 276 km NEDC figure against the S05’s 170 km NEDC range.
Electric Drive and Range Extender
Both SUVs follow the same basic REEV formula: an electric motor powers the rear wheels, while a petrol engine works as a range extender by charging the battery.
| Specification | XPeng L03 REEV | Deepal S05 REEV |
|---|---|---|
| Motor Type | Permanent Magnet Synchronous | Permanent Magnet Synchronous |
| Motor Power | 245 hp | 215 hp |
| Motor Torque | 280 Nm | 320 Nm |
| Range-Extender Engine | 1,499 cc | 1,497 cc |
| Drivetrain | RWD | RWD |
| 0–100 km/h | 6.8 seconds | 7.9 seconds |
The L03 produces 30 hp more power, while the S05 delivers 40 Nm more torque.
Based on the official acceleration figures, the XPeng is also quicker, reaching 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds compared with 7.9 seconds for the Deepal.
Wheels and Tyres
There is virtually nothing separating the two in this area.
| Specification | XPeng L03 REEV | Deepal S05 REEV |
|---|---|---|
| Wheel Size | 18-inch | 18-inch Alloy |
| Tyres | 225/60 R18 | 225/60 R18 |
Both use the same tyre size.
Any differences in ride quality, road noise or handling would therefore come down to suspension tuning, tyre brand and overall vehicle calibration rather than tyre dimensions.
Interior and Infotainment
Both SUVs offer technology-focused cabins, but their approaches differ in several areas.
| Feature | XPeng L03 REEV | Deepal S05 REEV |
|---|---|---|
| Main Screen | 15.6-inch, 2.5K | 15.4-inch Attentive Sunflower |
| Driver Display | 8.8-inch Digital Cluster | HUD-Based Display Setup |
| Head-Up Display | 26.8-inch W-HUD | HUD with Augmented-Reality Navigation |
| Sound System | Optional 20-Speaker Premium System | 14 Speakers |
| Apple CarPlay / Android Auto | Yes | Wireless |
| Wireless Charging | 50W, Air-Cooled | 50W |
| Ambient Lighting | 256 Colors | 64 Colors |
The L03 features the larger central screen and combines an 8.8-inch digital driver display with a large W-HUD.
The S05 counters with an augmented-reality head-up display and a standard 14-speaker audio system.
Comfort and Convenience
Both SUVs offer a strong comfort package, although their seat features differ in meaningful ways.
| Feature | XPeng L03 REEV | Deepal S05 REEV |
|---|---|---|
| Front Seat Heating | Yes | Yes |
| Front Seat Ventilation | Yes | Yes |
| Seat Memory | Yes | Yes |

| Climate Control | Dual-Zone, PM2.5 Purification, Rear Vents | Automatic A/C, PM2.5 Filter, Rear Vents |
| Panoramic Roof | Heat-Insulating Silver-Coated Glass | Glass Roof with Electric Sunshade |
The L03 places greater emphasis on massage and climate-related comfort.
The S05, however, offers more seat adjustment and adds a Zero Gravity passenger seat with a leg rest.
Safety Features
| Safety Feature | XPeng L03 REEV | Deepal S05 REEV |
|---|---|---|
| Airbags | 7 | 6 |
| ADAS | Level 2 | Level 2 |
| Surround-View Camera | 360° + Transparent Underbody | 360° + Transparent Chassis |
| Parking Assistance | Automated Parking Assistant | Remote Straight In and Out |
Both SUVs offer Level 2 driver assistance and 360-degree camera systems.
The XPeng also carries one additional airbag based on the supplied specification sheet.

Which One Fits You Better?
Specifications tell only part of the story. The better choice depends on what matters most to the buyer.
Home-Charging Owner
Which works better as an EV most days?
XPeng L03: Its larger battery and longer same-cycle NEDC EV range make it the stronger on-paper choice for frequent electric-only driving.
Long-Distance Driver
Which offers the stronger range case?
Too Close to Call: Both provide petrol-backed long-distance capability, but their combined-range figures are based on different test cycles and require real-world verification.
Family Buyer
Which is more practical as the only car?
Split: The XPeng provides more boot space and a longer wheelbase, while the Deepal offers strong comfort features for substantially less money.
Value Buyer
Which offers more for the price?
Deepal S05: At Rs 1.501 million less, it presents a strong value proposition while still offering rear-wheel drive, Level 2 ADAS and a well-equipped cabin.
Final Verdict
For an additional Rs 1.5 million, the L03 appears to offer a convincing value proposition.
It comes with a larger 37.2 kWh battery, a longer claimed electric range and faster DC charging. It also has a wheelbase that is 70 mm longer than the S05, even though the two SUVs remain very similar in overall length, width and height.
Both models are well equipped and competitively priced for what they offer.
If your budget can stretch by Rs 1.5 million, the L03 provides enough additional hardware and range to make the higher price worth considering.
Where XPeng still falls behind Deepal is local brand presence.
Deepal is backed by Changan, which has operated in Pakistan for years and already has an established dealership and after-sales network.
XPeng remains a newer name in the local market, and buyers should factor that into their decision alongside the specifications.
