The operation began on the first day of Eid from College Chowk and continued through the third day, with hundreds of sanitation workers and dozens of vehicles deployed to ensure timely waste collection and disposal. The initiative was launched by MPA Zahir Shah Toru and WSSCM Chief Executive Officer Engineer Adil Nawaz.

According to WSSCM, around 700 sanitation workers participated in the operation, supported by 84 vehicles of various capacities. The company received 85 public complaints during Eid, all of which were resolved promptly.

Large-scale sanitation effort

WSSCM reported collecting 1,420 tonnes of waste on the first day of Eid, followed by 553 tonnes on the second day and 330 tonnes on the third day.

After removing animal remains and offal, sanitation teams carried out disinfection measures, including the application of lime and disinfectant sprays at designated locations. Major roads, intersections, streets and neighbourhoods were also washed, while fragrance sprays were used to help reduce unpleasant odours.

Officials commend sanitation workers

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Zahir Shah Toru said the provincial government had made extensive cleanliness arrangements across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for Eid-ul-Adha and provided additional funds to local government institutions to support sanitation activities.

He praised the cleanliness efforts carried out across Mardan’s neighbourhood councils and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing a clean and healthy environment for residents.

CEO WSSCM Engineer Adil Nawaz acknowledged the efforts of sanitation workers, supervisors and management staff, describing their dedication during challenging weather conditions as commendable. He also thanked residents for their cooperation and appreciation of the company’s services.
