Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif’s mother, Suzanne Turquotte, has reportedly been living a simple life in a village in Tamil Nadu for years while working to improve educational opportunities for underprivileged children.
According to reports, Turquotte moved from London to Tamil Nadu in 2008 and began working with the charitable organisation Relief Projects India, focusing on children and communities from disadvantaged backgrounds.
From London to Rural Tamil Nadu
Turquotte later established the Mountain View School in 2015. The school initially began as a nursery serving fewer than 30 children but has since expanded and now provides education to more than 300 students, according to the report.
Her work has involved education and other community-focused initiatives in rural areas.
Katrina Kaif has previously spoken about her mother’s lifestyle, saying she lives in an area where electricity can sometimes be unavailable for extended periods and internet access can also be limited.
The lack of connectivity has reportedly made it difficult for the actress to maintain regular video calls with her mother.
Katrina Supports Her Mother’s Work
Despite the challenges of rural living, Kaif has said her mother chose this lifestyle voluntarily because she wanted to help people in need.
The actress also supports her mother’s charitable work financially.
The organisation associated with Turquotte is now reported to work across 25 villages in Tamil Nadu, with initiatives covering education, women’s welfare and healthcare.
Turquotte’s decision to continue living in a rural setting has allowed her to remain closely involved in the community projects she has pursued over the years.
