ISLAMABAD, October 25, 2026: WhatsApp is rolling out a new feature called “Mentions and Replies” to selected Android beta users, making it easier to find conversations in which someone has mentioned them or responded directly to their messages.
The feature is designed to help users manage busy conversations, particularly in large WhatsApp groups and communities where important messages can easily get lost among hundreds of notifications.
According to WABetaInfo, the new filter is being made available to some users running WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.26.42.12.
Once enabled, the Mentions and Replies filter will appear in the Chats tab, allowing users to quickly identify conversations that require their attention.
Instead of manually searching through multiple group chats, users will be able to view conversations containing messages in which they have been mentioned or received a direct reply.
How the new WhatsApp filter works
The feature aims to simplify communication for users who participate in several active groups or communities.
For example, someone who receives dozens of messages in a workplace group will be able to locate a colleague’s reply or a message mentioning them without scrolling through the entire conversation.
One of the filter’s key advantages is that relevant conversations will remain accessible even after users clear their notifications.
This means users who accidentally dismiss an important alert can still locate the corresponding conversation through the dedicated filter.
The feature could be particularly useful for professionals, students, business owners and community administrators who rely on WhatsApp for frequent group communication.
Users can customize the filter
WhatsApp is also introducing options to manage how the new filter appears in the app.
Users will be able to disable it through the settings or move it to the More section, depending on their preferences.
This flexibility is intended to keep the Chats interface organized while allowing users to access the filter when needed.
The Mentions and Replies feature is currently available to a limited number of Android beta testers.
WhatsApp has not yet announced when the feature will be released to all Android users or whether it will become available on iOS.
The development reflects WhatsApp’s continuing efforts to improve chat organization and help users keep track of important conversations.
