WCCIPD delegation meets SMEDA’s first female CEO to discuss women entrepreneurship

PESHAWAR: A delegation of the Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry Peshawar met SMEDA Chief Executive Officer Nadia Jahangir Seth to congratulate her on becoming the organization’s first female CEO and discuss support for women entrepreneurship in Pakistan.

The delegation, led by WCCIPD President Quratulain, discussed ways to strengthen women-led businesses, improve institutional coordination and expand opportunities for female entrepreneurs, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Senior Vice President Zara Imtiaz and Secretary General Saba Hidayat also attended the meeting.

Quratulain congratulated Nadia Jahangir Seth on her appointment and said her leadership could help strengthen the SME sector while creating more space for women entrepreneurs.

The WCCIPD delegation briefed the SMEDA CEO on the chamber’s work over the past 16 years to promote women entrepreneurship and support women-led businesses across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

During the meeting, Nadia Jahangir Seth shared SMEDA’s priorities, including policy advocacy and SME ecosystem development. She also highlighted SMEDA’s collaborations with PIFD, Alibaba, JICA and other national and international partners.

Quratulain presented recommendations for promoting women-owned micro, small and medium enterprises. She also called for greater representation of women within SMEDA at the national level to improve policy input and stakeholder engagement.

Nadia Jahangir Seth welcomed the recommendations and appreciated WCCIPD’s role in supporting women entrepreneurs. Both sides agreed to strengthen collaboration for a more inclusive and enabling environment for women-led enterprises across Pakistan.
