Washington / Tehran: An important development has emerged regarding a possible agreement to end the ongoing war between the United States and Iran.
US President Donald Trump has claimed that a peace agreement between the two countries could be signed today, while Iran has disagreed with this timeline, saying the agreement may be possible “in the next few days.”
According to international media reports, President Trump said the document being prepared to end the war between the United States and Iran is in its final stages and could be signed soon.
Trump said that after the agreement is signed, the Strait of Hormuz will be fully opened for all countries, while he also claimed that Iran’s nuclear material could come under US control in the future.
On the other hand, Iranian officials confirmed principled progress on the agreement and said the document is under consideration, but it would be premature to say that it will be signed today. According to the Iranian position, the agreement may be finalized in the next few days.
Meanwhile, tensions in the region remain high. Reports of explosions and Israeli attacks in southern Lebanon have been received. Iran says that if a comprehensive ceasefire is to be implemented in the region, it must apply to all fronts, including Lebanon.
At the same time, Iranian media has reported that the schedule for the funeral prayers and burial ceremonies of Iran’s late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has also been issued. According to reports, funeral ceremonies will begin in Tehran on July 4, while burial will take place in Mashhad on July 9.
According to political observers, if the proposed agreement between the United States and Iran is finalized, it could prove to be one of the most important diplomatic developments in the recent history of the Middle East, with effects also expected on the global economy, oil markets and regional security.
