Unilever Pakistan, CCP Hold Competition Law Training to Strengthen Corporate Compliance

ISLAMABAD: Unilever Pakistan has partnered with the Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) to conduct a competition law training programme for its employees, aiming to strengthen regulatory compliance, ethical business practices and corporate governance.

The session, held at Unilever Pakistan’s head office in Islamabad, brought together senior CCP officials who briefed employees on competition law, fair market practices and the importance of maintaining a transparent business environment.

The training focused on enhancing employees’ understanding of Pakistan’s competition framework and equipping them with practical knowledge to support a culture of integrity and compliance within the organisation.

Speaking on the occasion, Unilever Pakistan Chief Executive Officer Amir R. Paracha said ethical business conduct and accountability remain central to the company’s operations. He said continuous learning plays an important role in strengthening compliance and thanked the CCP for sharing its expertise with the company’s workforce.

Company Secretary and PTAB General Counsel PC & Foods Aman Ghanchi said regulatory engagement is essential for promoting fair competition and responsible business conduct. He noted that awareness initiatives help businesses better understand competition laws while encouraging constructive collaboration between regulators and the private sector.

Competition Commission of Pakistan Chairman Farid Ahmad Tarar said awareness is the foundation of effective competition law compliance, adding that informed employees are better equipped to make responsible business decisions and contribute to a fair marketplace.

During the programme, Dr. Ikram ul Haq, Director General and Head of the CCP’s Market Intelligence Unit, outlined the Commission’s mandate and regulatory functions.

Marryum Pervaiz, Secretary to the Commission and Head of Merger & Acquisition and Advocacy, discussed deceptive marketing practices, mergers and acquisitions, while Maliha Quddus, Director (Cartels), briefed participants on abuse of dominant market position and prohibited agreements under Pakistan’s competition laws.

The event concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, allowing employees to engage directly with CCP officials on practical aspects of competition law and regulatory compliance.

The initiative reflects growing collaboration between regulators and the corporate sector to promote transparency, ethical business conduct and fair competition in Pakistan’s business environment.
