MULTAN,  Two young friends were killed after being struck by a train while reportedly listening to music through earphones on railway tracks near Double Phatak in Multan’s Basti Khudadad area.

According to rescue officials, the two men were wearing hands-free earphones and apparently failed to hear the approaching train.

Eyewitnesses said the friends were sitting on the railway tracks and listening to music on their mobile phones when the train approached and struck them.

The deceased were identified as 21-year-old Abdul Rehman, a resident of Basti Khudadad, and 22-year-old Muhammad Nadeem, who belonged to Pakpattan.

Reports indicated that Abdul Rehman was the only son of his parents.

Following the incident, railway police reached the scene, while the bodies of both victims were shifted to Nishtar Hospital in Multan.

The incident serves as a reminder of the dangers of sitting or walking on railway tracks, particularly while wearing earphones that may prevent individuals from hearing approaching trains or warning signals.
