RAWALPINDI: General Metin Tokel, Commander of the Turkish Land Forces, held separate meetings with Pakistan’s top military leadership during an official visit to Islamabad and Rawalpindi, where both sides discussed regional security, defence cooperation, and professional military collaboration.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), General Tokel called on Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Staff, at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi on Thursday.
The visiting commander was presented a guard of honour upon his arrival at GHQ. During the meeting, the two military leaders exchanged views on matters of mutual professional interest, regional security dynamics, and opportunities to further strengthen bilateral defence cooperation.
Field Marshal Asim Munir highlighted the longstanding historical, cultural, and strategic ties between Pakistan and Türkiye and reaffirmed the importance of defence collaboration between the armed forces of the two countries.
As part of his visit, General Tokel also met Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of Naval Staff, at Naval Headquarters in Islamabad. The discussions focused on professional matters and the regional maritime security environment.
The Turkish military commander later called on Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of Air Staff, at Air Headquarters. Both sides reviewed bilateral military cooperation and issues of professional interest.
According to ISPR, General Tokel appreciated the professionalism of Pakistan’s armed forces and acknowledged their contributions to regional peace and stability. He also expressed a commitment to further strengthening defence cooperation and institutional ties between the armed forces of Pakistan and Türkiye.
